West Milford is a town in Harrison County, West
Virginia, United States. As of the census of 2000, there were 651 people,
257 households, and 189 families
residing in the town. It is situated
5-miles West of Lost Creek, WV at the
intersection of U.S. Route 19
and State
Route 270, and alongside the banks of the West Fork River. Once a thriving rural farming community
with a grist mill from which it got it's name, West Milford today serves
primarily as a suburb or bedroom community to the larger City of Clarksburg. The
town has a bank, a convenience store, a discount (Dollar General) store, a
post office, two used car dealerships, three churches, a cemetery
mausoleum, a medical clinic, a chiropractor,
a volunteer fire department,
water/sewage treament plant and an elementary school. Although
only 5-miles separates West Milford from Lost Creek each communitiy has
always maintained and clung to it's individual identity. The towns were forever intertwined in 1965
when their respective independent High Schools (Unidis and Lost Creek) were
consolodated to form South Harrison High School. The
High School and it's athletic teams is the tie that gives the residents of
